AMG Black Series Performance Not Enough For MKB

The SL65 Black Series by AMG is known to have an output of 800 horsepower, an improvement of 130 horsepower from the base Mercedes-Benz SL65. But some people cannot have just enough. MKB, a German tuner, takes the already excellent SL65 Black Series and further tunes the engine to extract a massive 1015 horsepower by modifying the turbocharger, cooling, intake and engine management systems. That is 345 additional horsepower from the base 670 that Mercedes-Benz came up with.

The P1000 can do the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds, according to MKB. MKB’s own limited slip differential is installed in this car to ensure that the power is delivered appropriately and not just lost to wheelspin. Modifying the SL65 Black Series to P1000 spec takes three months.

MKB’s own figures are shown in this table:

Base engine: AMG 65. 6,0 Liter V12

Power in PS / kW at RPM: 1.015 / 746 at 5.700

Torque in Nm at RPM: 1.300 at 3.300 to 6.000

Track Performance:

0-100 km/h: 3.6 s

0-200 km/h: 8.9 s

0-300 km/h: 21.5 s

¼ mile: 11.1 s

Although theoretical top speed performance has been calculated at 370 km/h, the top speed that the MKB P1000 has actually been able to reach is “just” 350. Definitely not a figure to be disappointed with! You may wonder how much this thing costs. As the saying goes, if you have to ask...

The MKB P1000 in action:

There is no drama involved launching and driving the car down the strip. Just jam on the gas pedal and go. That simple. An amazing, fantastic car.
