Alpina Passion

The story began in April 2006, when I was looking into buying a fun car to take on weekend trips. After considering several options, I decided to focus on the Alpina Roadster S as I liked the Z4 body style and the typical Alpina refinements to the exterior, interior and engine. At the time....

People with passion, people with dreams, people with energy for a single goal...always end up doing remarkable things.... this is a story of a passionate man's trials and tribulations in fine tuning his Alpina Roadster S to his exacting specifications. The story includes a let down by Alpina and ASA and ESS tuning coming to the rescue with a one off supercharger kit.

The kit takes the car up to 445hp @ 7200 rpms and a purposeful 0-60 in 4.2 seconds ...

Gemballa's engines turn over once again!

I was pretty gutted when I first heard that the Gemballa, the iconic German tuning company (specializing in supercar modifcations and creators of the totally astonishing Gemballa Mirage GT (based on the Porsche GT Hypercar) ...

Not a week later and I am now relieved to hear that a group of German investors have moved in to rescue this iconic brand, recognizing the value that still lives on in the Gemballa name, and leveraging the existing value and experience in the current Gemballa team.

These may be tough economic times for the automotive industry... but high performance is what inspires us all in this market in the first place... and this executive move has kept me interested in what is yet to come.

Design your own 1000hp monster

In follow up to the posts about the 1015 horsepower MKB SL65 AMG, I have released the first of a weekly tuner report showing you the process of calculating and designing your own 1000 horsepower monster using our horsepower calculator....

You can find the full report here... enjoy :)

A Monsterous Truck-Rod

In all my years of interest in automotive and modifications, I have never seen anyone build anything like this before ...

Just some quick stats for you:

12 cylinder, 16 LITER! diesel engine, 2 stroke (so double the power per liter that you'd expect from a 4 stroke) and supercharged (so double the power per liter that you'd expect from a naturally aspirated engine).

Take 16 liters of gasoline power and multiply that by FOUR ... that's how much power this thing has.
Take 16 liters of gasoline torque, and multiply that by at least 10 ... that's how much torque this monster can pull....

REDICULOUSLY AWESOME (more details, click on the link below)

MKB delivers a 1000 horsepower monster

It seems that the Germans tuning houses are getting jealous. Remember just last week G-Power announces their 372kph twin-supercharged M5 Hurricane RR pushing approximately 800hp.

MKB ( A spin off tuning house by the M from AMG) has just released this year's edition of the SL65-Black series. Unlike the old SL65 Black editions that focused on increased performance through minimalism and weight reduction, and unlike the Brabus edition of the SL65 pushing around 800 horsepower... MKB has gone mad and delivered an awesome 1015 horsepower at 5700 rpms using a twin-turbo setup.

Successful stress and longevity testing on the supercharged version of the new Mustang 5.0 engine has allowed Ford Racing to offer their own version of the Mustang Supercharger Kit.

The kit comes in 3 levels of tune depending on the performance level that you seek with the level three tuner kit showing potential of 960 horsepower at 19.5 psi of boost.

These three kits come with Ford Racing's 12/12 warranty and are a proven and reliable way of upgrading your stang.

I wouldn't mind ...

Considering the fact that the new 'coyote' 5.0 engine is coming out with a naturally aspirated 412 horsepower... if Ford did decide to put a supercharged five-oh into this falcon ... I wouldn't mind buying and driving one of these.... 4 doors and 600 hp could be a lot of fun.

From mild to wild

Finally we see a company come up with a supercharger kit for a small block V8 that isn't based on a 1900 to 2300 cc supercharger.
Lysholm has put out a new kit targeting OEM and relabeled manufacturers that is capable of 800+hp at 25+psi of boost for the 4.6liter mustang V8 engine.

The heart of the kit is the larger than usual Lysholm 3300AX/R supercharger which is a 3.3 liter twin screw unit and the package comes with upgraded intake manifold, fuel rails and a healthy sized 5" intake system with matching 123mm MAF housing.

Rotrex Supercharged Triumph

This is an interesting example of a supercharged motorcycle
